Navigating Data in Azure Cosmos DB Gremlin API

Abstract:
Graph databases are great for exploring relationships and connections. Applications of graph databases include fraud detection, social networks, semantic search, managing IT networks, and recommendation engines. Azure Cosmos DB’s API for Gremlin allows you to work with graph data and query using Gremlin syntax. In this talk, we will explore graph concepts and querying relationships using Gremlin.

Sarah “sadukie” Dutkiewicz (Due-KAY-vitch) is a Microsoft MVP in Developer Technologies, Data Science Adventurer & Polyglot Programmer. Sarah is a native Clevelander & published technical author of a PowerShell book, podcast/live coding guest, conference organizer, hackathon lead organizer, speaker, community advocate, software developer, wife, and mom. She speaks on topics such as Azure DevOps for various audiences, database development, web development, and user experience guidance for developers. CSS Techniques for Blazor Developers

Abstract:
Does your CSS code remind you of an episode of Hoarders? In this session we’ll explore a variety of CSS related architecture decisions that Blazor developers face. Attendees will learn how and when to use plain CSS, Sass or CSS Isolation with Blazor. Modern CSS techniques like custom CSS properties will be discussed. We’ll explore techniques to build modular and intelligent CSS by leveraging CSS principals and incorporating helper libraries. This session aims to break the dependency on CSS systems like Bootstrap and Tailwind.

An Introduction to Redis for Developers

Abstract:
Redis is a popular, powerful, and—most of all—FAST database. Developers worldwide use Redis as a Cache, a session store, a message bus, and even as their regular database. In this session, we’ll introduce Redis, and learn some of the key design patterns that you can use with Redis. Then we’ll go over how Redis fits into the ecosystem, and how to use it in our applications—including some of the major gotchas to avoid.

By the end of this session you’ll have learned:

  • What is Redis and its major use-cases
  • What are some key Redis Patterns
  • How Redis fits into our apps
  • Some common Redis anti-patterns and how to avoid them

Speaker Bio:
Steve Lorello is a seasoned Software Engineer, having worked on the Global Positioning System, the FAA’s Air Traffic Control System, as well as various video conferencing solutions and communication systems. Steve now works as the .NET Developer Advocate for Redis, where he acts as something of a community expert for Redis as well as a developer of and contributor to various Redis libraries.
