MAKE-ing Virtual Reality Experiences more Immersive!

Abstract:
MAKERS use technology and creativity to build and share amazing things. We will apply this Maker mentality to the already amazing world of Consumer Virtual Reality (VR). This presentation will explore joining maker culture with VR technology using live demos of 3D printing, electronics, and old fashioned tinkering. We can fuse Maker attitude with VR technology to create compelling and impactful user experiences.

Educators and Entertainment professionals will certainly benefit from these approaches, but your imagination is the limit. Featuring the HTC Vive and the Vive Tracker, this presentation will demonstrate real-world techniques that can be applied towards immersive experiences.

Speaker Bio:
Chris Ellis is a consultant with Fast Switch, Inc. located in Columbus, Ohio. In a career that spans over 25 years, he has had clients ranging from Fortune 100 companies to one person startups. With the resurgence of consumer Virtual Reality, he is spending more time developing Virtual Reality experiences and helping others by co-leading the VR Columbus User Group. He considers himself lucky to wake up every day and develop software.
