Incredibly Strange Programming Languages!

Abstract:
If you’ve ever suspected that “all programming languages are pretty much the same; they just have different syntax,” well, you will never suspect that again! Covering languages from the unusually powerful (Idris) to the illuminated (قلب) to the profoundly limited (BlooP), and all points in between, these languages will help you think differently about approaches to software problems you face in your day job. Of course we’ll have a lot of fun, but these languages are no joke. The practical benefit of an impractical language is the power to find new approaches to common problems.

Speaker Bio:
Craig Stuntz is a software engineer and a lifelong student of computer science, with specific interests in programming languages, type theory, compilers, and math. He lives in Columbus, Ohio, works for Improving, and cofounded the Columbus branch of Papers We Love, a reading group for people interested in academic computer science research. In the past year he has presented talks at Lambda Jam, CodeMash, CloudDevelop, Dog Food Conference, Stir Trek, and many user groups. When not at work or playing with his kids, he is usually studying math or playing Irish traditional music on the tin whistle and wooden flute. Find Craig at @craigstuntz.
